Breakthrough in Supercapacitor Technology Led by Calicut University and Electrivore Engineers

Kozhikode – In a major leap forward in energy storage innovation, the Green Graphene Laboratory of the Department of Chemistry, University of Calicut, in close collaboration with Arun C M, the visionary CEO and Founder of Electrivore Engineers, has developed cutting-edge graphene-based supercapacitor technology that could potentially replace lithium-ion batteries. This significant achievement is the result of a dedicated research effort spanning over a year and a half, steered jointly by academic excellence and industry leadership. While the university research team worked on the technical foundations, it was Arun C M’s leadership and strategic direction through his Kozhikode-based company, Electrivore Engineers, that played a crucial role in guiding the project towards real-world application. The research focuses on creating high-performance supercapacitors for electric vehicles (EVs), an area where rapid energy delivery and high power density are essential. Unlike traditional batteries which store energy for long durations but take time to charge and discharge, supercapacitors can deliver energy almost instantaneously. This makes them ideal for high-power applications like EV startups and regenerative braking systems. Arun C M’s involvement through Electrivore Engineers ensured that the technology is not only scientifically robust but also commercially viable. His vision to push India toward self-reliance in advanced energy storage solutions was instrumental in aligning the project’s goals with industrial needs. The project, led by Dr. N.N. Binitha of the University of Calicut, included key contributions from research scholars and Yet, it was the industrial partnership with Arun C M’s Electrivore Engineers that translated this research into a scalable technology.
